The Caterpillar Pre-School is for children aged between 2 and 4 years and 6 months. Children must attend a minimum of two pre-arranged sessions each week.
The early years are the most crucial for your child which is why, at Caterpillar Pre-School, we provide a productive, stimulating and safe environment for children to learn, play and make friends.
At Caterpillar Pre-school you’ll find a large indoor space with special areas for art, cooking and dressing-up plus a home corner, construction area, math’s factory, small world and reading den. We also have a beautiful garden for children to play outside and children can enjoy a healthy breakfast and nutritious snacks too.
With an Ofsted rating of ‘Good’, we are proud that the Caterpillar Pre-school can give your child such a fun and educational start to their childhood, thanks to our highly qualified staff.
We work closely with you, the parents and carers, as well as the children at the Pre-School to give each child the confidence, skills and social values that you would want them to have. And the Pre-School also gives your child a solid foundation on which to build a successful life at school and long into the future.
Our staff at Caterpillar Pre-School will do everything they can to support your child if they find it difficult to communicate or hard to manage their own behaviour. And they will give you tips and techniques, if you want assistance, to help your child behave better at home. Additionally, our staff are particularly experienced in helping children who are struggling with their use of language or who aren’t developing well in certain areas of their lives. If this is the case, our staff will get as much support for your child as possible and will strive to ensure that every child’s individual needs are met.
We are inundated with requests to join the Caterpillar Pre-School every year so, to avoid disappointment, please submit your child’s application as soon as possible.
For an application form, either call us on 020 8898 0892, email us at or collect a form at the Centre.
Here are the answers to the most-commonly asked questions about Caterpillar Pre-School:
- When is the Pre-School open?
Morning sessions are from 9:00am until 12:00pm.
- How often does my child need to attend the Pre-School?
All children must attend at least two pre-arranged sessions each week.
- How much does it cost?
We provide places for children eligible for the Two Year Old funding and Early Education Entitlement funding as well as places for fee paying families. There is a one-off registration fee (payable at time of registration) of £15. Sessions are then £15 each which must be paid weekly. These fees are payable even when a child does not attend for any reason.
- Is my child eligible for Two Year Old Funding?
This funding is available to families with children who meet the criteria. Please contact The Early Years and Childcare Service (Funding Scheme Officer) on 020 8583 6421 for information.
- Is my child entitled to Early Education Entitlement (EEE)?
EEE is available from the start of the term AFTER a child reaches the age of 3, however there is a cut-off date. For example, to receive the EEE for the Autumn Term (September to December), the child’s birthday must be on or before the 31st August. Please contact The Early Years and Childcare Service on 020 8583 2664.
- How do I register my child at the Caterpillar Pre-School?
A registration form can be collected from the Pre-School or can be sent via email for requests sent to email@example.com. The form must be fully filled in before it can be accepted and for this reason it is advisable to bring the form, along with the registration fee (£12) to the Pre-School so that we can check the form with you.
Once the registration form is received, if a place is not available immediately or if the child is not yet old enough to attend, he/she will be placed on a waiting list. When places become available, they are allocated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
